How to Rearrange Multiple Monitors

How to Rearrange Multiple Monitors

Purpose

This guide explains how to arrange multiple monitors in Windows 11 so that your mouse pointer and windows move smoothly between displays.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure all monitors are powered on and connected to your computer.
  • If a monitor is not detected, verify the cable connections and that the monitor is set to the correct input source.

Step 1: Open Display Settings

  1. Right-click an empty area on your desktop.
  2. Select Display settings.

Step 2: Identify Your Monitors

  1. At the top of the Display settings page, click Identify.
  2. A number will briefly appear on each monitor.
  3. Make note of which physical monitor matches each number.

Tip: This makes it much easier to arrange your monitors correctly.

Step 3: Rearrange Your Displays

  1. In the Display section, locate the monitor layout diagram.
  2. Click and drag each monitor until it matches the physical position of your monitors on your desk.
    • Place monitors side-by-side if they are next to each other.
    • If one monitor sits higher or lower than another, adjust its position to match.
  3. Align the edges of the monitors as closely as possible to prevent the mouse from getting "stuck" when moving between screens.

Step 4: Apply Your Changes

  1. After arranging the monitors, click Apply.
  2. Test moving your mouse between each display.
  3. If everything works as expected, click Keep changes.

Step 5: Verify the Arrangement

Move your mouse pointer slowly across the edges of each monitor.

  • The cursor should move naturally from one screen to the next.
  • Open a window and drag it between monitors to verify the layout.

If the movement doesn't feel right, return to Display settings and make additional adjustments.
